1. THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE (Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn) A. CẤU TRÚC. 1. Dạng khẳng định (+) S + am/ is/ are + V-ing Ex: My sister is working now. 2. Dạng phủ định (-) S + am/ is/ are + not + V-ing Ex: My sister isn’t working now. 3. Dạng nghi vấn (?) Am/ Is/ Are + S + V-ing? Ex: Is my sister working now? *Quy tắc thêm “-ing” sau động từ. Thông thường ta chỉ cần thêm “-ing” vào sau động từ. Nhưng có một số chú ý như sau: a) Động từ tận cùng bằng "e" thì bỏ e rồi thêm "ing" Ex: live – living; come – coming; Riêng tobe – being b) Động từ tận cùng có 2 chữ “ee”, ta thêm “ing” bình thường không cần bỏ e. Ex: see – seeing. b) Động từ 1 âm tiết (hoặc 2 âm tiết trở lên mà có âm nhấn ở cuối) tận cùng bằng 1 phụ âm, có 1 nguyên âm đi trước thì ta nhân đôi phụ âm cuối mới thêm "ing" Ex: run – running; begin – beginning; cut – cutting; get – getting; Nhưng: meet - meeting (không gấp đôi t vì có 2 nguyên âm "e" đi trước) c) Động từ tận cùng bằng "ie" thì đổi thành "y" rồi thêm "ing" Ex: lie – lying; die - dying d) Động từ tận cùng bằng "L" mà trước nó là 1 nguyên âm đơn thì ta cũng nhân đôi "L" rồi thêm "ing" Ex: travel – travelling; gravel - gravelling B. CÁCH DÙNG. 1. Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra ở thời điểm đang nói. Ex: We are studying Maths now. (Bây giờ chúng tôi đang học toán) 2. Một hành động xảy ra có tính chất tạm thời. Ex: She is working (cô ấy đang làm việc) 3. Diễn tả sự việc đang diễn ra xung quanh thời điểm nói. Ex: I am looking for a job. (Tôi đang tìm kiếm một công việc.) 4. Một hành động lúc nào cũng xảy ra liên tục. (thường có thêm usually, always trong câu). Ex: I am usually thinking of you (tôi thường nghĩ về bạn). 5. Diễn tả một sự việc sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai theo một kế hoạch đã được lên lịch cố định. Ex: I bought the ticket yesterday. I am flying to New York tomorrow.

DẤU HIỆU NHẬN BIẾT. + Trong câu có các trạng từ chỉ thời gian: Now ; Right now ; At the moment ; At present ; At + giờ cụ thể ; this time. + Trong câu có các động từ như: Look! ; Listen! ; Keep silent! ; hurry up! ; pay attention to! ; don't make noise! = don't talk in class!; Be quiet! Những động từ không chia ở HTTD start/begin wish expect notice wonder need see hear have to hope understand keep fall know be want consider feel prefer sound love/ like smell agree seem fell look taste finish stop enjoy D.
